  • Our "Lakebed" kiln formed cast glass bowl is inspired by our relationship with nature. After hiking for a few hours you discover a small footpath at the edge of the woods and make your way down to the bank of a lake. Early morning fog blankets the gently lapping cool water. You sit, take your thermos of green tea from your pack and enjoy the sounds of nature waking for the day. "Lakebed" is created from recycled glass to reduce our carbon footprint and protect the natural environment that inspires us. It is an object to help you mindfully connect to your environment and live a more conscious life.

The object is cast in a handmade mold, before being coldworked, sandblasted, and fire polished to a lovely matte finish. Slight imperfections and signs of the making process have been intentionally left. We believe in the concept of wabi-sabi, that imperfection is beautiful, and that there is an imperfection in nature.

    How it's made:

Lakebed is a cast glass object created by melting pieces of sheet glass, ground glass frit powders, and coarse frit kernels together in an electric kiln to approximately 1530 degrees Fahrenheit. The design is created expressively, but mindfully to be an object that is cherished and one that inspires. After the glass is cast and the object is formed, it is coldworked and sandblasted before being re-fired in the kiln to achieve a soft matter finish called a "fire polish".
